'Cauldron of the Red God' is the 4th volume of Celtic Esoteric Studies , a series of books by B A Boland and T A Taylor. The project aims to re-vitalise the ancient myths of Ireland, making sense of the many obscure and enigmatic elements of these fantastic stories - which were handed down from our ancestors via the oral tradition until they were written into manuscript form by the early christian clerics and the bardic schools. By the time this happened (between the 6th and 15th centuries), much of the ancient knowledge had been lost. In addition to this, the bardic methods of teaching and transmission were in coded form - and not accessible to the un-initiated. But, it is certain that these Filidh (seers) had a worldview which had 'formulated' a unique perception of the universe - and one mostly lost to us living in the modern western world.
